Activities of the Soil Research Institute of the CSIR (Ghana) to assess the impact of soil research on agricultural development of Ghana are highlighted. Reports on research and soil surveys conducted at different locations throughout Ghana to ascertain soil suitability for agricultural exploitation and to establish relationships between ecological zones and the various soil groups are provided. To facilitate use of such correlative data, soil suitability maps have been prepared in addition to advice on fertilizer use, its relationship to, and effect on soil fertility and crop yields
