The major agricultural soils of Ghana with their relationship with food production are discussed. These soils have been mapped out, studied, classified and evaluated, and should form the basis for any meaningful agricultural planning activity. Each type of soil studied is linked with the major crops it can support in terms of growth and production. A large volume of soil is eroded to waste each year and it is important that soils be maintained for sustained productivity of agricultural products
