Observational trials were done in Guyana to study the yield of 2 onion varieties, Red Creole and Tropicana Red on clay soils with cattle manure incorporated, and the effect of seedling age at the time of transplanting on yield. Seedlings were 6 and 8 weeks old when transplanted. Substantially higher yields were obtained from Red Creole irrespective of seedlings age at the time of transplanting. The yield of both varieties could be improved by incorporating cattle manure in clay soils
