Investigations of field packing with collapsible stapleless cartons were unsuccessful due to the poor quality of board used. Observations were made on the rate of latex flow from the crowns of banana hands as influenced by fungicide treatment of the crown and time of crownpad application. The possibility of increasing the proportion of short-fingered fruit by use of a growth retardant and effects of plant density and shoot excision were investigated
