Adalla, C.B. | Rola, A.C.
This project hopes to accomplish 2 general objectives: (a) to communicate IPM [Integrated Pest Management] to the farmers through the participatory approach; and (b) to verify and ultimately generate an IPM strategy appropriate to the Looc and San Juan [Philippines] farmers. Specifically, this project hopes to: (1) select and modify IPM technology for rice from available recommendations so that yields at least equal those of farmers and returns on investments in pest control are significantly increased; (2) compare the agronomic and economic performance of locally-adopted IPM with farmers' practices in paired-parcel trials within 20 farmers field in Looc and San Juan, Calamba, Laguna [Philippines]; (3) form a panel or committee of all the collaborating farmers that will meet regularly and assess the progress of the project with previously established needs of the community.
