An experiment on 4 month-old rams given a ration containing formaldehyde-treated barley grinding grain or NaOH-urea-treated barley grain was carried out. No significant differences in weight gain were observed. The highest digestibility coefficient of dry matter, crude fibre and N-free extractives in NaOH-urea treated barley whole grain rations was stated. The higher feed conversion efficiency in rams, fed on formaldehyde or NaOH-urea treated barley, than in control ones was found
