Steel, assigned to be used for making knives, used in hoes, was subjected to laboratory tests for wear. The difference in wear of 65H steel and 35HGS steel changed accordingly to the abrasive material used. On that ground it was suggested that the steel wear resistance depended on the changed soil conditions and on account of it the determination of absolute wear resistance of materials assigned to work in soil could not be accomplished
