Efficacy of various herbicidal treatments in controlling weeds in sugar cane
1985
Mason, G.F. (Caroni Research Station, Carapichaima (Trinidad and Tobago))
Small plot herbicide trials in sugarcane fields in Trinidad for the last 10 years are reviewed. Metribuzin was superior to the standard treatment Atrazine for pre-emergence control, giving a longer period of control for all major weed species except Cyperus spp. Terbuthiuron was also effective but does not control emerging weeds, as was Asulam/Atrazine. Metribuzin, hexazinone/diuron and terbutryn gave good pre-post-emergence control. The standard diuron/2,4-D amine/paraquat mixture proved best for post-emergence control. Summaries of the results are tabulated
