Double-purging of low-grade massecuite involves removing the adhering film of molasses from the surface of the low-grade sugar crystal. The implementation of this process resulted from the modification in the layout of the low-grade station and the problems encountered with processing. The installations at Blairmont factory, the equipment and the boiling schemes are described. The significant improvement in sugar quality obtained is tabulated and the economic benefits obtained by the process indicated
