[Energy aspect of the basic tilling of heavy-mechanical-composition soils]

Machines for the basic soil tilling have been investigated. On the basis of the obtained results the following has been found: 1) the basic tilling ought to be performed by chisels because they save 10-40% of energy, relative to ploughs. 2) The chisels with active operating units have advantages over immobile chisels because they consume 10-18% less energy for the same work. 3) Generally, in basic cultivation of heavy soils advantage should be given to chisel implements in the places where plant residue removal has been solved and where soil moisture allows it. 4) The operating ploughs have advantages when ploughing in plant residues and with higher soil moisture.
