The characteristics of acid-base status of the blood of cows with different daily milk yield

It has been established that values of pH and metabolic components of acid-base homeostasis are significantly higher in blood of the group of cows with high daily milk yield, 21 to 31 l of milk, than in the group with the lowest daily quantity of milk (5-13 l). It could be concluded that cows with high daily milk yield show a slight physiological transition towards metabolic alkalosis, as a result of homeostatic regulatory mechanism in normal breeding conditions and with normal milk production.
