A great number of sunflower lines having different higher fatty acid compositions in the oil have been created during a many-year work using various genetic sources. The L-1 and L-3 lines have a high linoleic acid content and L-9, L-13 and L-14 lines a high oleic acid content (over 85 %). The high linoleic and oleic acid content does not change under the changing environmental conditions. Some lines, however, have equal oleic and linoleic acid contents in the oil, this property being heterozygous and it cannot be fixed.
