The influence of high summer temperatures on the production dynamics and reproductive properties of sows as well as possibilities for preventing their negative effects have been investigated. Significant discrepancies were established with regard to the number of sows mated, the number of farrowings, the number of newborn piglets, the number of weaned piglets and the number of fattened pigs delivered for slaughter within the 1972-1977 period, whether calculated quarterly or monthly, as compared to the model established in accordance to the accepted production technology.
