In the qualitative phytoplankton composition of the hydroelectric plant Cakovec (Yugoslavia) a total of 119 species has been established. There has been found the increase of the number of species in comparison with the river Drava before the construction and in the 1st year after the construction of the hydroelectric plant Cakovec. Quantity of phytoplanktons varied on some locations from 150 cells/l to 8000 cells/l. Regarding the most important species within the phytoplankton composition, the phytoplankton has river and lake character.
