Rapid multiplication of potato through leaf-bud and top shoot cuttings

Multiplication potential of potato plants through leaf-bud and top shoot cutting was studied in 3 varieties during 1987-88. Small tubers (3 cm d) were obtained directly from leaf-bud cuttings maintained for 7 weeks in sand -filled benches. Therefore, from a single plant at least 700 tubers may be obtained within 5 months, from November to March. This might be the simplest and fastest method of increasing of selected stocks.
