Effects of organic materials on phosphorus transformation in a soil sample of Gazipur [Bangladesh]
1989
Elahi, S.F. (University of Dhaka (Bangladesh). Dept. of Soil Science)
Effects of addition of straw, sewage sludge and cellulose on inorganic phosphorus forms in a typic distrochrept soil of Gazipur were studied. At the beginning there were some interconversion between the inorganic phosphorus forms. At later stages microbial activity was predominant at original soil pH of 5.3. At higher pH there was slow but steadily rising microbial assimilation of phosphorus. Only sewage sludge increased inorganic phosphorus. At all pH levels Ca-P was the predominant inorganic form to be immobilized.
