Population dynamics and control strategy of five species of corn borer in east and west Sichuan [China]

The corn borer is a main and seriously injuring pest insect for corn in Sichuan. In this investigation, five species of corn borers in Sichuan are reported, they are Asiatic corn borer (Ostrinia furnacalis Guenee), pink stem borer (Sesamia inferens Walk), stripe borer (Proceras venosatus Walker), grey millet borer (Chilo infuscatellus Snellen) and peach moth (Dichocrocis punctiferalis Guenee). The first species is the dominant species in East Sichuan (72.3-78.9%), while the second is the dominant one in West Sichuan (60%).
