Two field trials were grown in the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Minufiya University, Shebeen El-Kom to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer (20, 40, 60 and 80 kg N./ fad.) on yield and yield components of wheat varieties (Giza 157, Sakha 8, Sakha 8, Sakha 61 and Sakha 62). Application of nitrogen fertilizer up to 80 kg/ fad. caused a progressive increase in plant height, upper internode length, number of tillers/ plant, flag leaf area and grain yield/ plant and its components (number of spikes/ plant, number of spikelets/ spike, number of grains/ spike, grain yield/ spike) as well as yield and straw yield/ faddan and protein percentage. Reversely, 1000- grain weight and ash percentage decreased by increasing nitrogen fertilizer from 20 to 80 kg/ fad. Wheat cv. Giza 157 surpassed other tested varieties in all aformentioned traits except flag leaf area, 1000-grain weight and ash percentage which were higher in Sakha 62 than other varieties.
