Effect of some growth regulators on lipid and protein constituents of soybean seeds [Egypt]

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of five growth substances at three different concentrations on the seed oil content, unsaponifiable matter, fatty acids composition, protein content, protein patterns and lipoxygenase and esterase activities of soybean seeds. The results revealed that CCC (250 and 500 ppm), markedly increased the protein content. The levels of growth substances produced the highest percentages of seed oil content. Conversion in fatty acids and unsaponifiable matter patterns with all treatments were observed. Electrophoretic separation of soybean protein proved that the protein patterns from different treatments were identical in the majour bands separated except those samples treated with ICP (100 ppm) and CCC (250 ppm). The intensity of protein bands in buffer extract was greater than in water extract. AG3 and kinetin treatments reduced the activity of lipoxygenase at defined levels. Treatments with GA3 and kinetin at different doses increased the esterase activity. The most effective treatments were 200 ppm kinetin and 150 ppm GA3 which produced a high percentages of lipid.
