The effect of defoliation of older leaves at different growth stages on earliness, maturity, compactness, core length and diameter, head diameter, dry matter build-up and yield of cabbage (Brassica oleracea) is reported. Defoliation was at 2, 3, and 4 weeks after transplanting produced the largest heads and highest edible yield per hectare
