Laboratory studies on the comparative effectiveness of some organo-phosphorus insecticides against adults of Amblyomma variegatum (Fabricius)
1980
Kyei-Nkrumah, A.
The relative toxicities of asuntol (Coumaphos), bromophos-ethyl, fenitrothion (Sumithion) and pirimiphos-methyl to adults of the tropical bont or variegated tick, Amblyomma variegatum were determined in the laboratory. Fenitrothion was the most effective after 72 hrs of exposure even at tropical application. Male adults were more susceptible at all concentrations. Asuntol was the least effective against the adults. Mortality increased progressively with increase in concentration. Except for fenitrothion at 1.0-2.2%, all acaricidal concentrations were ineffective against the adults 3 hrs after treatment
