Changes in the concentrations of some heavy metals during the vegetation period in winter wheat

In a field trial conducted on calcareous chernozem soil the winter wheat variety Martonvasari 8 grown in 1982 was studied in samples taken from the total aboveground part on ten occasions from early spring until harvest for changes in the concentrations of Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Hg, Li, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sr and Ti elements. - Concentrations of the elements examined were showing a decrease with the advance of the vegetation period, - highest concentrations were measured at the onset of vegetation in early spring in the phase of tillering and shooting, - in the state of complete ripeness, in the grain it was Mo, in the straw Be, Co, Li, Ni and Sr that were present in higher, Cr, Cd, Hg and Pb in both end-products in nearly equal concentrations, while Ti was measurable only in the straw, accuracy of the determination improved with the increase in concentration.
