Composition of microelements in grains of winter cereals as effected by replenishing dose of PK fertilization

Effect of large dose PK treatments has been studied with regard to the composition of microelements in grains of winter wheat, rye and triticale. Analysis of grains obtained from a field trial, suggests the following conclusions: On acid soil Mn, Zn and Cu content together with that of Sr in the grains of winter wheat, rye and triticale, significantly increased; on chalky soil the same tendency occurred regarding Mn and Sr content of rye and triticale, while Zn and Cu lowered, as a result of PK fertilization. Change was caused by the treatment in the amounts of Mn, Zn, Cu and Sr in winter wheat, rye and triticale grains, but the environment remained apparently free of any harmful effect. Selenium content, being mainly influenced by growing site and species, showed no reaction to fertilization. Mn and Sr content proved to vary in dependence of growing site and species, too. Tendencies observed do not reflect such changes which effect food or feed value of the grains. Possible long term effects, however, warrant further research.
