Cows that suffer from chronic metritis in the post partum period should not be given irritant medicines to provoke cycle, the author suggests. Infusion given 4-5 days after oestrus will bring about oestrus within 4-7 days, while treatment in days 16-19 of the cycle will lengthen the time between consecutive oestruses. Irritant solutions do not have influence on the length of the cycle if they are administered in the middle of the cycle or during oestrus.
