Comparison of effectiveness of several fungicides to control rice blast
1985
Izadyar, M.
Rice blast which is caused by Pyricularia oryzae Cav. is one of the most important rice diseases in the rice growing areas of the world. This disease causes considerable loss in some domestic cultivars each year. Causal fungus infects different parts of rice plant in all stages of growth and produces different symptoms. Leaf blast results in tillering stage, node, neck and panicle blast appear later after heading. Following the introduction of Benomyl (Benlate) and Edifenphos (Hinosan), some other systemic fungicides such as Tricyclazole (El 291), Carbendazime (Bavistine), Guazatine (Panoctine) and nonsystemic fungicides such as Mancozeb (Dithane M-45) and Zineb (Dithane Z-78) (Table 1. in Farsi text) have been tested in laboratory and in the field. This research indicated that all fungicides, which have been tested can control rice blast, but some of them such as Tricyclazole and Edifenphos are more effective than others (Tables 2-6 in Farsi text)
