"Yeupsildlggae", a new perilla variety with the potential of many leaves and high-grain yield

"Yeupsildlggae" originated from the pure line selection at Crops Experiment Station, Rural Development Administration in 1988. The variety was high in main stem length and had more branches and clusters than those of Suwon 8 released in 1978. The variety was high in oil content and linolenic acid, while low in stearic, oleic and linoleic composition in seed contents. In the number of flesh leaves harvested during the growing season, the variety showed 15 % more on Aug. 15 and 12 % more on Sept. 15 than those of Suwon 8. The accumulated number of flesh leaves harvested on Aug. 15 and Sept. 15 was 13 % more than that of Suwon 8. The variety can be adapted all over country Southern Korea
