In order to establish year-round production methods of perilla leaf, several cultivation methods were studied in Horticultural Experiment Station, RDA, Suwon Korea from 1985 to 1988. High planting density increased perilla production, the leaf weight decreased if more than 25,000 plants per 10a. Picking all of the unfolded leaves of perilla increased leaf production, although the growth was restrained. The mineral content and size of leaf changed a little after unfolding. The germination ratio of perilla seeds was decreased third year after collection. Especially the germination ratio of small seed cultivars was more decreased. The optimum germination temperature ranged from 25deg C to 30deg C
