The objective of this study was to find out seed yield and major characters related to physiology of photosynthesis at vegetative (V5 stage) and flowering stage in soybean cultivars. Photosynthetic rate per unit leaf area at vetgetative stage was superior to that at flowering stage, but photosynthetic rate per plant at flowering stage was superior to that at vegetative stage. At vegetative stage, photosynthetic rate per unit leaf area was highly negative correlated with unit leaf area and highly positive correlated with nitrogen fixation. Unit leaf area at vegetative stage was highly negative correlated with nitrogen fixation. At flowering stage, photosynthetic rate per plant was highly positive correlated with leaf area per plant, nitrogen fixation and chlorophyll content. Chlorophyll content was highly positive correlated with leaf area per plant and nitrogen fixation. There was little realtionship between photosynthetic rate per unit leaf area and seed yield, but positive relationship between photosynthetic rate per plant and seed yield
