The decrease of T and B-cells was accompanied by an increase of NK cells in MDV infected and HVT vaccinated birds. In intact birds, HVT vaccination and MDV infection resulted in significant increase of NK cells as compared to control birds. Similar observations were made in bursectomised birds infected with MDV and vaccinated with HVT. However, NK cell population did not differ significantly among Tx, Tx+HVT. Tx+HVT-+ MDV groups except at 2,6 and 9 weeks. It was also observed that thymectomy considerably increased NK cell population without HVT vaccination and MDV infection. In uninfected bursectomised and intact birds, the percentage of NK cell was low as compared to thymectomised birds. Significant differences in NK cell population could not be observed in intact and bursectomised birds vaccinated with HVT. There were no significant differences in NK cell percentages among MDV, Bx + MDV and Tx + MDV groups. A similar trend was observed in intact, bursectomised and thymectomised birds vaccinated with HVT and subsequently challenged with MDV
