This experiment was conducted to select adequate herbicide for soiling corn at the Alpine Experiment Station (800m a.l.s.)from 1987 to 1988. Within 2 days before and after planting, herbicides were applied on soil. Alachlor (2-chloro-2, 6-diethyl-N-methoxymethyl acetanilide) and simazine (2-chlor-4, 6-bisethylamine-s-triazine), alone and in combinations, were used. Percent of weed control, DM yield and TDN yield were higher in herbicide application within 2 days after planting than in herbicide application within 2 days before planting. Among herbicide treatments, best weed control (92.3%) and highest dry matter yield (1,222.9Kg 10a** (-1)) resulted from combination of alachlor and simazine at 200+150g/10a which was applied on soil within 2 days after planting
