An interaction of potato viruses X and Y on potato growth and virus multiplication
1989
Hahm, Y.I. | Cheong, S.R. | Park, C.S. (Rural Development Administration, Taekwallyong (Korea R.). Alpine Experiment Station)
An interaction between potato viruses X and Y in two potato varieties was examined at field and greenhouse of Alpine Experiment Station for two years (1985-1986). The relative increase of PVX concentration in mixed infection (PVX + PVY) occurred only in PVY-susceptible potato variety 'Irish Cobbler', whereas PVX was strongly reduced in the doubly infected PVY-resistant variety 'Superior'. However, the effect of single and double infection with PVX and PVY on plant heights, percentage of dry matter and yield was not significant, but the effect of double infections on percentage of foliar necrosis was significant, especially in cv. Superior. The multiplication of both PVX and PVY could be affected by the present of PVY and PVX, respectively
