[Agricultural credit in Puebla Project: A case study, in the Village San Jose El Rincon, Puebla, Puebla]

The objective of this study was to determine the causes of the participation or no participation of farmers in credit programs promoted by the extension staff of Plan Puebla in the Village San Jose El Rincon. Other objective was to determine the adoption degree of the technical recommendations and its impact on corn yields among the different types of farmers identified. It was found that the use of credit was related to scarce economic resource on behalf of some farmers. However, in spite of this fact, a considerable number of farmers are not willing to use credit because crop insurance is mandatory. Furthermore a number farmers have never use credit because they feel that it implies unnecessary expenditures and because high interest rates. In relation to adoption of technical recommendations, it was found that farmers were using them form medium to high degree. Finally no significative yield differences were found between the different types of farmers.
