Effect of processing method on nitrogen fraction in grass and grass-legume mixtures

An experiment on drying or ensiling with or without formaldehyde of Bromus unioloides or Phleum pratense and its mixtures with Medicago sativa or Trifolium pratense was carried out. Both preservation methods (drying and ensiling) increased the level of soluble nitrogen and decreased that of true protein in feedstuffs. No protective effect of formaldehyde on true protein content in silages was observed
