This contribution describes weed control management in corn farming in the Philippines. It points out the most common weed species, analyzes the bases for weed control management in this country, as well as the indirect, physical, and chemical control practices used. Special attention is given to Rottboellia cochinchinensis, which represents a special weed problem in the Philippines. Because of its high persistence in the field it can reduce crop yield at 70 percent or more
