Studies of clay mineral weathering and dynamics of different iron (and manganese) forms in the Pseudogleyic soils in Cimpia Vlasiei were conducted. The alternation of the oxidation and reduction processes, specific to the pseudogleyization process, determines, especially in the AW and EW horizon, a clay mineral weathering (of the ferrolysis type) characterized by the decrease of the content or the disappearance of the smectite and the appearance of the chloritic components. The mechanisms by which the iron (and manganese) is redistribuated in the pseudogleyization process (free iron and manganese redistribution, silicate iron weathering and transport from the neighbouring zone) are presented. By these mechanisms the free iron maximum accumulation (under the form of concretions) at the lower part of the alluvial horizon, predominantly under amorphous form, as well as the free manganese accumulation in the Bt horizon was reached
