This is a study on the outbreak of MD in HVT vaccinated flocks, and comparative vaccinations with HVT alone and double vaccinations with Rispens and HVT vaccines. Vaccinated chicks were naturally exposed to an infection with a strong, viscerotropic and probably virulent variant of the MD virus. Great losses of MD and a decrease in egg production were established in all vaccinated flocks, but to a lesser degree in flocks vaccinated with both vaccines. There is also a proposal for the improvement of vaccination programs.
