Influence of soil fertility on hay yield of grass varieties

It has been established that the main reason for the differences in hay yields among individual repetitions of the same grass types and varieties are differences in soil fertility. Correlations, which were mostly positive, have been established between the percentage of humus in the soil and the hay yield, between the quantity of physiologically active phosphorus and potassium in the soil and the hay yield. The availability of physiologically active phosphorus (P5O5) and potassium (K2O) in the soil with a bottom limit of 20 mg/100 g of soil, at a depth of 0-15 cm, is a prerequisite for profitable and good quality production.
