The transport demand in Czechoslovak agriculture and its economic implications are characterized. The possibilities of reducing the costs through the application of logistic principles are suggested. Macroeconomic conditions must be created for mobilization of the internal and external factors in the different economic subjects. Attention is drawn to the double-edged nature of innovative intentions in the field of circulation of goods. The regulation and de-regulation of transport are analyzed, together with their effect on the offer of hauling services and with the international implications of the introduction of logistics. Potentials and possibilities of introducing logistic solutions are mentioned and the benefits offered by such solutions to producers, wholesalers, retailers, hauliers and State administration authorities are emphasized. Transport policy may be an important tool in introducing logistic systems. Conclusions are drawn for the agri-food complex.
