The resistance to grain - sprouting in spikes by a set of winter and spring wheat cultivars of the Czechoslovakian lines was tested by means of two indirect methods - the method of spike bunches and the new developed method of moist chamber. Several years' results have confirmed their reproducing and good distinguishing abilities and the acceptability of both methods for breeding material selections from the point of view of the resistance to grain - sprouting. The results obtained have confirmed also the influence of climatic factors on a wheat grain dormancy degree. As far as granted winter wheat cultivars are concerned, Hana, Slavia, Selekta, Vala and Zdar cultivars are resistant to grain - sprouting in spikes. Mironovska 808, Iris, Ilona (BU-25), Branka, Sparta and Viginta cultivars are resistant enough.
