The growth ability of crossbreds (Prestice Black Pied x Landrace) x synthetic line 98

Control fattening was carried out of crossbreds (PC x L) x SL 98 modified to testing of hybrid pigs in operation conditions of commercial management to the age of 245 days. The pigs were weighed up regularly and for the expression of the changes in the growth progression. The four-parameter Richards function was used, thus enabling constructing the growth curves and the curves of the momentary rate of growth. The inflexion point was found in 47 of the height of the growth curve, i.e. in 188 days of age with a weight of 85 kg, when also the maximum momentary rate of growth of 834 g was reached. The method used proved to be suitable also in view of determination of the growth potency determined by sex dimorphism. The results could be used for determination of the convenient slaughter weight in view of the governing price relations between the price of 1 kg of complete feed mixtures consumed and the price of 1 kg of pigs sold.
