Rooting and yield of tubers of meristem potato plants of the very early Eta variety after transplantation into the greenhouse were investigated. Two types of transplantation were used: direct transplantation without hardening with spacing 18 x 8 cm (69.44 plants per m2) and transplantation with hardening. At the hardening the plants were kept in a box covered by a polyethylene foil and then they were transplanted with spacing 18 x 18 cm (30.56 plants per m2). The second way of transplantation resulted in better rooting, the greater number and weight of tubers. The difference in weight and number of tubers per square metre was not significant. Although there were no differences in the average size of tubers, hardened plants showed tendency to form higher number of bigger tubers (above 22 mm). After 100 days of growth 193 - 205 tubers with total weight 1.21 - 1.81 kg were collected from 1 m2. Results indicate that the transplantation of hardened potato plants with spacing 18 x 18 cm is more profitable.
