Performance characteristics of Czechoslovak trotters with respect to their age

The effect of age on a racing performance was evaluated by the analysis of 6160 starts of trotters in the CSFR. An age curve is evaluated by quadratic regression and closeness of relations is estimated by correlation index. The results enable to define corrective factors on the effect of age, especially at including the animals in breeding. The effect of age was proved on the basis of all starts and also the best one km. times at a high mutual correlation. Criterion of the one best time is therefore, after correction of age, sufficient for aims of selection. It is necessary to revise contemporary scales of trotter classes.
