Amido acid content in plants of red clover after selection for resistance to Fusarium spp.

Content of all amino acids has been compared in dry matter of above-ground parts of mammoth red clover plants. The plants originated from Czechoslovak varieties and new breeds and represented the progeny of parental individuals selected and unselected for resistance to mixed infection Fusarium oxysporum, F. solani, and F. avenaceum. The plants tested were inoculated by these pathogens and contents of 16 most important amimo acids have been determined ten weeks from inoculation. With exception of new breeds SE-46 and DO-4, among individuals from selected and control mothers there were only small differences not exceeding 2 per cent. No direct correlation was found out between contents of all amino acids and the capability to respond to pathogenic microorganisms.
