[Long-term research on the deflection and operational performance of forest roads]
1991
Stachera, J. (Vysoka Skola Lesnicka a Drevarska, Zvolen (CSFR)) | Klc, P.
Long-term research on the deflection of bitumen and gravel roadways of forest roads was carried out on selected model sections on the territory of the School Forest of the College in Zvolen, Slovak Republic, CSFR, using the Benkelman's lever deflectometer. Deflection of the roadways was measured in 1972 - 1985 in spring during the supposed highest moisture of the ground and in summer during the period of relatively dry ground. Under gravel roadways a higher moisture of ground (by 2 to 5 percent) was measured than under bitumen roads. This caused a higher deflection of the roadways. The carrying capacity of roadways is closely related to the moisture of the ground and influences the operational performance of the forest roads.
