Two groups of sows (50 sows each) reared under different conditions till the high degree of pregnancy were observed. First group was kept in a pigsty without a run, the second had the possibility for a hard run. The effect of stabling on their reproductive efficiency was studied. No significant differences in number of live-born and weanling piglets per a farrow were found. Statistically significant differences appeared only at the third and fifth farrow in number of live-born piglets (8.85 and 9.62 piglets, 9.33 and 9.82 piglets, resp.). In the first group 84 percent of sows were culled out after the fifth farrow, in the second group only 50 percent. All sows of the first group were culled out after the seventh farrow, in the second group 22 percent of sows remained.
