The results quantifying the changes in the growth and production characteristics under the conditions of water stress in the V, VII, IX, VII, and IX, X stages of organogenesis were interpreted on the basis of pot trials. It follows from the results that there are actual disorders of the formation of the structure of the production and accumulation potentials. Alternative adaptation systems were manifested by disorders of the apical dominance of the main stalk in the V and VII stages of organogenesis. These systems provided the productivity of plants on the level of the stress-free variant. Different degrees of dependence of some yield-forming components on the parameters of leaf apparatus, culms, internodes and ears were recorded in the later stages of organogenesis. The level of water supply, along with the years, affected all the parameters under study. The character of the resulting productivity is given by conditions of cultivation and autoregulating capabilities, by the degree of the stress manifestation in dry-matter formation and in the development of weight prerequisities, as well as by the distribution of dry matter among organs. The causes of different possibilities of implementation of the plant productivity of spring barley are discussed.
