[Vagus indigestion syndrome in cattle]

Among digestive tract disturbances, vagus indigestion because of its many etiologic factors is very important. Lesions which involve the vagus nerve specially vagus ventral innervating forestomachs and abomasum cause varying degrees of paralysis of the stomachs resulting in syndromes characterized by delayed passage of ingesta, distension, anorexia and the passage of soft pasty feces in small quantities. A number of syndromes have been described but the three of these conditions are more common in cattle: 1. Ruminal distension with hypermotility. 2. Ruminal distension with atony. 3. Pyloric obstruction and abomasum impaction. The prognosis in most cases are unfavourable and unpredictable. The best recommendation that can be made to owners is sending the affected animals to the slaughter house
