Landslides in the mountain areas of Kenya: Comparative studies of different slopes within the Nyandarua Range

Presents the results of a research project carried out to evaluate the contribution of mass movements to soil erosion in a humid tropical environment. Also to evaluate the increase of landslides in relation to the change in land use especially on the slopes of the Nyandarua Range. 59 landslides on the eastern side of the range and several hundred erosion scars on the west in Nyandarua district were identified. It was also discovered that landslide erosion problem is growing within the Nyandarua Range and they contribute a lot in the total erosion budget for these areas. Recommendations are given
