A discrete time numerical model for irrigation scheduling
1987
Khallouf, Z.N.
A numerical model was developed to predict reference crop evapotranspiration (ETo) and schedule of irrigation utilizing basic soil, plant, water, and climatic data. The model selects among six methods to estimate ETo depending on availability of meteorological data. The Hargreaves (1985) equation was calibrated for use in semi-arid regions with climates similar to that of the Bega'a valley in Lebanon, as a new method that requires temperature as measured data. Other meteorological data, such as maximum relative humidity, sunshine hours ratio, daytime wind, and solar radiation need only to be estimated. The model was verified utilizing data reported in literature and the effect of input parameters on the schedule of irrigation were determined. No significant differences were observed between model estimation of ETo and published values. Model output of the irrigation schedule was checked and validated
