Relationship of firewood extraction to farming systems: the case

This study was conducted to : 1) determine the nature and extent of firewood extraction and farming systems practiced by the upland farmers in Eastern Cabagan, Isabela [Philippines] 2) evaluate the effect of some socio-economic varieties to both firewood extraction and farming systems, and 3) examine the relationship between firewood extraction and farming systems as affected by some selected socio-economic variables. Results of the study provided sufficient empirical basis to conclude that there is a negative correlation between firewood extraction and farming systems as affected by the various significant socio-economic variables tested. This implies that concerned government line agencies should intensify the implementation of their present delivery systems bearing on these variables in order to increase agricultural productivity and to minimize pressure on forest denudation due to firewood extraction
